Aimed at the homeschooling community in the Abilene area, if you have a tween or teen with an interest in the arts, join us for the next Art Smarts program at your Main Library. This art club will focus on participants learning information about artists, genres, and eras of art while then creating a version of what art we’re learning about. For this month, we’re letting you choose between watercolor paints and chalk to create some abstract art on 5x7 canvases. Plus, as always, we’ll talk about the artists that made this style of painting famous before you try it yourself. Get artsy with your library!

Meet the Author

The Abilene Public Library will be hosting another great author talk, and the featured speaker will be Jen Eikenhorst, author of “Left Turn: Life Unimagined.” Released last March, this is a memoir that tells the story of how one tragic left turn while driving home led to an accident that would begin to unravel her life as she knew it…her identity, her faith, her mental health. It's a story about learning to forgive yourself, and accepting forgiveness from others when trauma and tragedy strike. Eikenhorst is a wife and mother of four, a math teacher, speaker, and host of the Accidental Hope Podcast. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to come hear her speak at this free event. Plus, based on 40+ customer reviews for the book on Amazon & Barnes & Noble, all rated it with a perfect 5-stars. For more information about the author and her story, visit www.accidentalhope.com.
