DISCOVER THE ART OF NATURAL DYEING

Join us in Abilene, Texas, for an immersive Indigo Workshop where you'll uncover the fascinating world of natural dyes. This workshop is perfect for artists, crafters, and anyone interested in sustainable and traditional dyeing techniques.

TWO CLASSES: 9-11 am OR 1-3 pm

EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Participants will:
* Learn the history of natural dyes used by the artist, such as indigo and cochineal, and other materials integral to his work.
* Understand the significant effort involved in dyeing with organic pigments, particularly cochineal, pericon (Tagetes lucida), and indigo.
* Gain hands-on experience in the dyeing process, creating your own uniquely dyed wool scarf to take home.

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
* Introduction: Meet the artist and get an overview of the workshop.
* History of Zapotec Weaving**: Discover the rich heritage and traditions of Zapotec weaving.
* Natural Dyes: Learn about the various dyes used by the artist in his creations.
* Indigo Dyeing Process**: Engage in a detailed, hands-on indigo dyeing session, experiencing each step of the process.

WORKSHOP DETAILS
* Hands-On Experience: Participants will actively engage in the dyeing process using wool shawls, which they will keep.
* Limited Spots: To ensure a personalized experience, the workshop is limited to 15 participants.
* Materials Provided: All necessary materials will be supplied.
