Chugga-chugga … choo-choo! Abilene’s Railroad Festival is roaring back after a decades long hiatus!
Founded in 1881 by the railroad, Abilene has strong ties to the railroad companies that have operated here, and the railroad tracks that have literally shaped our city, dividing the town between the North Side and the South Side.
The festival includes tours of the historic T&P railroad buildings along N. 1st Street, exhibits in downtown museums, food trucks, Abilene Model Railroaders exhibit, special guests and more! Bring the family to the Abilene Cultural District for an entertaining and illuminating good time.
Sept. 6-7, 10 am-4 pm “Trains in Literature” exhibit at the NCCIL. Free admission. Free family fun art project on Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm
