Art Smarts: String Sculptures

  • Abilene Public Library 202 Cedar Street Abilene, TX, 79601 United States (map)

Aimed at the homeschooling community in the Abilene area, Art Smarts is a great program designed for tweens and teens with an interest in the arts at your Main Library. For this month, we’ll be studying the artistic styles of Judith Scott, an American fiber sculptor who was deaf and had Down Syndrome, but became internationally renowned for her art. She discovered her love for art in 1987, being enrolled at the Creative Growth Art Center in California, which supports people with developmental disabilities. There she found her passion and talent for abstract fiber art. We’ll supply the materials needed for you to get hands-on with exploring her style of creating art by making our own string sculptures. Don’t miss out on being a part of this fun art series at your library.
