Aimed at the homeschooling community in the Abilene area, Art Smarts is a great program designed for tweens and teens with an interest in the arts. Attend this second session of the month at your Mockingbird Branch where we’ll be learning about street art in the style of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The New York City artist rose to success during the 1980s as part of the Neo-expressionism movement, as well as being one of the youngest artists to exhibit at the Whitney Biennial in New York at the age of 22. After we learn about him, we’ll supply the materials for you to make your own project using his style. Come out ready to create some art in this fun STEAM activity.
